OBJECTIVES/GOALS: This study proposes a pragmatic approach for tracking institutional changes in research teamwork and productivity in real time using common institutional electronic databases such as eCV and grant management systems. Dissemination of this approach could provide a standard metric for comparing teamwork productivity across different programs. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: This study tracks research teamwork and productivity using commonly available institutional electronic databases such as eCV and grant management systems. We tested several definitions of interdisciplinary collaborations based on number of collaborations and their fields of discipline. Publication characteristics were compared by faculty seniority and appointment type using non-parametric Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test (p RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: Interdisciplinary grants constitute 24% of all grants but the trend has significantly increased over the last five years. Tenure track faculty collaborated with more organizations (3.5, SD 2.5 vs 2.3, SD 1.1, p DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE: This study provides empirical evidence of the benefits of interdisciplinary collaboration in research and identifies an important role that senior faculty may be playing in creating the culture of interdisciplinary teamwork. More research is needed to improve efficiency of interdisciplinary collaborations.

Objective:
To evaluate total usual intakes and biomarkers of micronutrients, overall dietary quality and related health characteristics of US older adults who were overweight or obese compared with a healthy weight.
Design:Cross-sectional study.
Setting:Two 24-h dietary recalls, nutritional biomarkers and objective and subjective health characteristic data were analysed from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011–2014. We used the National Cancer Institute method to estimate distributions of total usual intakes from foods and dietary supplements for eleven micronutrients of potential concern and the Healthy Eating Index (HEI)-2015 score.
Participants:Older adults aged ≥60 years (n 2969) were categorised by sex and body weight status, using standard BMI categories. Underweight individuals (n 47) were excluded due to small sample size.
Results:A greater percentage of obese older adults compared with their healthy-weight counterparts was at risk of inadequate Mg (both sexes), Ca, vitamin B6 and vitamin D (women only) intakes. The proportion of those with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D < 40 nmol/l was higher in obese (12 %) than in healthy-weight older women (6 %). Mean overall HEI-2015 scores were 8·6 (men) and 7·1 (women) points lower in obese than in healthy-weight older adults. In addition, compared with healthy-weight counterparts, obese older adults were more likely to self-report fair/poor health, use ≥ 5 medications and have limitations in activities of daily living and cardio-metabolic risk factors; and obese older women were more likely to be food-insecure and have depression.
Conclusions:Our findings suggest that obesity may coexist with micronutrient inadequacy in older adults, especially among women.

Approximately half of the variation in wellbeing measures overlaps with variation in personality traits. Studies of non-human primate pedigrees and human twins suggest that this is due to common genetic influences. We tested whether personality polygenic scores for the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) domains and for item response theory (IRT) derived extraversion and neuroticism scores predict variance in wellbeing measures. Polygenic scores were based on published genome-wide association (GWA) results in over 17,000 individuals for the NEO-FFI and in over 63,000 for the IRT extraversion and neuroticism traits. The NEO-FFI polygenic scores were used to predict life satisfaction in 7 cohorts, positive affect in 12 cohorts, and general wellbeing in 1 cohort (maximal N = 46,508). Meta-analysis of these results showed no significant association between NEO-FFI personality polygenic scores and the wellbeing measures. IRT extraversion and neuroticism polygenic scores were used to predict life satisfaction and positive affect in almost 37,000 individuals from UK Biobank. Significant positive associations (effect sizes <0.05%) were observed between the extraversion polygenic score and wellbeing measures, and a negative association was observed between the polygenic neuroticism score and life satisfaction. Furthermore, using GWA data, genetic correlations of -0.49 and -0.55 were estimated between neuroticism with life satisfaction and positive affect, respectively. The moderate genetic correlation between neuroticism and wellbeing is in line with twin research showing that genetic influences on wellbeing are also shared with other independent personality domains.

OBJECTIVE
To determine the clinical diagnoses associated with the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) pneumonia (PNEU) or lower respiratory infection (LRI) surveillance events
DESIGNRetrospective chart review
SETTINGA convenience sample of 8 acute-care hospitals in Pennsylvania
PATIENTSAll patients hospitalized during 2011–2012
METHODSMedical records were reviewed from a random sample of patients reported to the NHSN to have PNEU or LRI, excluding adults with ventilator-associated PNEU. Documented clinical diagnoses corresponding temporally to the PNEU and LRI events were recorded.
RESULTSWe reviewed 250 (30%) of 838 eligible PNEU and LRI events reported to the NHSN; 29 reported events (12%) fulfilled neither PNEU nor LRI case criteria. Differences interpreting radiology reports accounted for most misclassifications. Of 81 PNEU events in adults not on mechanical ventilation, 84% had clinician-diagnosed pneumonia; of these, 25% were attributed to aspiration. Of 43 adult LRI, 88% were in mechanically ventilated patients and 35% had no corresponding clinical diagnosis (infectious or noninfectious) documented at the time of LRI. Of 36 pediatric PNEU events, 72% were ventilator associated, and 70% corresponded to a clinical pneumonia diagnosis. Of 61 pediatric LRI patients, 84% were mechanically ventilated and 21% had no corresponding clinical diagnosis documented.
CONCLUSIONSIn adults not on mechanical ventilation and in children, most NHSN-defined PNEU events corresponded with compatible clinical conditions documented in the medical record. In contrast, NHSN LRI events often did not. As a result, substantial modifications to the LRI definitions were implemented in 2015.

Collaboration is used by the US National Security Council as a means to integrate inter-federal government agencies during planning and execution of common goals towards unified, national security. The concept of collaboration has benefits in the healthcare system by building trust, sharing resources, and reducing costs. The current terrorist threats have made collaborative medical training between military and civilian agencies crucial.
This review summarizes the long and rich history of collaboration between civilians and the military in various countries and provides support for the continuation and improvement of collaborative efforts. Through collaboration, advances in the treatment of injuries have been realized, deaths have been reduced, and significant strides in the betterment of the Emergency Medical System have been achieved. This review promotes collaborative medical training between military and civilian medical professionals and provides recommendations for the future based on medical collaboration.

The memory loss that follows a series of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) treatments has been well documented. The amnesia appears to involve an impairment in the ability to acquire new memories, an impairment of memory for events that occurred shortly before ECT (Dornbush, 1972; Williams, 1966), and an impairment in the ability to recall material from remote memory (Janis, 1950; Squire, 1974a). Several characteristics of the anterograde amnesia produced by ECT have been the subject of contradictory reports. For example, it has been reported that memory functions can improve markedly or even return to pre-ECT levels within hours after the last of a short series of treatments (Brengelmann, 1959; Zinkin and Birtchnell, 1968; Zirkle, 1956). Yet, it has also been found that amnesic effects of a short series of treatments can be detected for weeks (Cronin, Bodley, Mather, Gardner and Tobin, 1970; Halliday, Davison, Browne and Krieger, 1968). Moreover, some reports suggest that memory recovers at the same rate following each of the first few treatments in a series (Brengelmann, 1959; Zinkin and Birtchnell, 1968), whereas other reports demonstrate that the effects of the first few treatments on memory can be cumulative (Bidder, Strain and Brunschwig, 1970). One explanation for such variant findings is that different memory tests have been employed in these studies. To obtain accurate estimates of the effects of ECT on memory, tests used to assess memory should be as sensitive as they can be to memory impairment. This point is particularly relevant, of course, to the evaluation of long-term effects of ECT on memory. Patients who had sustained partial temporal lobectomy could perform normally in tests of immediate reproduction from memory, but were markedly impaired in tests that imposed long delays between learning and retention (Milner, 1958). Apparently tests involving delayed reproduction from memory are a more sensitive index of organic memory dysfunction than tests that involve immediate reproduction. The present study assessed the ability of patients receiving ECT to retain newly learned material for 30 minutes and 24 hours. The results of these delayed retention tests demonstrate that recovery from anterograde amnesia is quite gradual and that the effects of the first few ECT treatments on memory are cumulative; and underscore the value of such tests as sensitive indicators of possible long-term effects of ECT on memory.
